Cookies
To make this site work properly, we place small data files called cookies on your device. This is a very useful as well as widespread technology which enhances and personalizes the modern internet user experience.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.
Are cookies dangerous?
No. Cookies are not computer programs, and cannot be executed as code. Also, they cannot be used to spread viruses.
Can cookies threaten users' privacy?
Cookies cannot access the hard drive. A cookie therefore cannot read other information saved on the hard drive, or get a user's email address etc. Cookies only contain and transfer to the server as much information as the users themselves have disclosed to a certain web site.
A server cannot set a cookie for a domain that it is not a member of. In spite of this, users can quite often find cookies from web sites that they have never visited. These cookies are usually set by companies that sell internet advertising on behalf of other web sites. Therefore it may be possible that users' information is passed to third party web sites without the users' knowledge or consent, such as information on surfing habits. This is the most common reason for people rejecting or fearing cookies.
What types of cookies do we use?
Two types of cookies may be used on our website - "session cookies" and "persistent cookies".
Session cookies are cookies that are temporarily stored in computer or device memory and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. These are used, for example, when you fill out a contact form or when you log in to our support area.
Persistent cookies remain on your device for a longer period of time or until you manually delete them. How long a persistent cookie remains on your device will depend on the duration or "lifetime" of the specific cookie and your browser settings.
On our website a persistent cookie is set, for example, when you log into our support area and explicitly tick the "Remember me" check box. By doing so you do not have to re-enter your user name and password every time you visit our support area.
Some of our pages include interactive maps provided by Google. Google may set cookies to store information and preferences about maps or other associated Google services on pages where we embed Google maps. For more information on how Google uses cookies, please refer to their privacy policy.
How to control cookies
You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see e.g. www.aboutcookies.org.
You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.
